The British Isles Team scored its first victory in cold, blustery weather at the Muirfield Course of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers in Scotland in early June. After winning two of the three foursomes to take a 2- 1 lead, the British were tied, 4- 4, with one match still on the course. The deciding game saw Miss Elizabeth Price, of the British side, take command over Miss Grace De Moss.

One of the most thrilling matches was between Miss Jean Donald, of Britain, and Miss Dorothy Kirby. Miss Donald was 5- up with 11 holes to play, but Miss Kirby tied the match at the35th hole. Miss Donald's second shot on the final hole was bunkered. She scored a 5, while Miss Kirby made a par 4 to climax a great comeback victory.
