The Curtis Cup series was inaugurated with three foursomes and six singles, all in one day. The United States Team outscored the British Isles by 5 ½ to 3 ½ on May 21 at the Wentworth Golf Club, Wentworth, England. The Americans swept the foursomes. Miss Helen Hicks and Miss Virginia Van Wie of the United States team scored 68 for the 17 holes they played in a 2- and- 1 victory over Miss Enid Wilson and Mrs. J.B. Watson.

In the singles, Miss Joyce Wethered, Miss Wilson, and Miss Diana Fishwick scored victories for the British Isles while Miss Van Wie and Mrs. L.D. Cheney scored the only two victories for the Americans. In the No. 1 match between two great players, Miss Wethered defeated Mrs. Glenna Collett Vare, Jr., 6 and 4. The match between Miss Molly Gourlay and Mrs. O.S. Hill was halved.
