The United States defeated Great Britain and Ireland, 14-4, in the Curtis Cup Match, at Somerset Hills Country Club, in Bernardsville, New Jersey. The United States regained the Cup after losing in the two previous matches. The Americans led 6-3 after the first day's foursomes and singles matches, and then won all six singles matches on the second day. The match stood 8-4 in favor of the United States after foursomes on the second day, prior to singles play.

First- time American players Brandie Burton, Katie Peterson, and Robin Weiss, and eight- time Curtis Cup player Anne Sander went undefeated in their matches. The most interesting pairing had Sander, the oldest player, at age 52, teamed with Vicki Goetze, the youngest player, at 17. They won their foursomes matches each day, by scores of 4 and 3, and 3 and 1.
