| The United States won the 16th International
Match for the Curtis Cup, 11 ½- 6 ½, at the Brae Burn Country
Club, West Newton, Mass., for its 12th victory in the series.
The British Isles had won two, and two matches had been tied.
The British Isles took the lead after the foursomes matches
of the fist day, 2- 1, and with one match remaining and a
chance to end the first day's play tied at 4 ½- 4½. However,
Mrs. Paul Dye, Jr., of the United States, rallied from being
two down with four to play, won the next three holes from
Miss Julia Greenhalgh, and put the United States ahead to
stay, 5 ½- 3 ½. The United States won 2 ½ of a possible 3
points in the morning foursomes of the second day, led, 8-
4, with only the singles remaining, then won 3 ½ of a possible
6 in the afternoon. Miss Jane Bastanchury, of the United States,
was the only player on either side to win both her singles
matches, and teamed with Miss Shelley Hamlin to win a foursomes.
Non- playing Captains were Miss Jeanne Bisgood for the British
Isles, Mrs. Philip Cudone for the United States.
