Down 2- 1 after the foursomes, the British took four of six singles to regain the Cup, 5 to 4. The last math to finish was vital. It pitted two players undefeated in singles play in earlier Matches, Miss Polly Riley and Mrs. Frances Stephens Smith. Miss Riley climaxed a comeback by evening the match on the 32nd hole and again on the 34th.

After halving the 35th hole, Miss Riley took a one- over- par 6 on the final hole while Mrs. Smith got down in 5 for the victory and the Match. Winds of 45 miles per hour lashed sleet across the course during the foursomes play. The Match was played at the Prince's Golf Club, Sandwich Bay, England.
