| The United States won the Curtis
Cup for the fifth time and did so by the largest margin, 7 ½
to 1 ½, at the Country Club of Buffalo, Williamsville, N.Y.
Matches were at 36 holes for the first time. After winning two
of the three foursomes, the Americans took five singles matches
and halved another for a total of 5 ½ points out of a possible
six.
The only American loss during the two days came when Miss
Hlene Sigel and Miss Peggy Kirk were defeated in foursomes
by Miss Frances Stephens and Miss Elizabeth Price, 1 down.
The halved singles match was played by Miss Stephens and Mrs.
Mark A. Porter, Champions of their countries in 1949. Going
to the 34th tee, Miss Stephens was 3 down. She finished par-
